I manged to connect my ps4 controller and everything is working fine and as intended. My problem is after i turn off my bluetooth dongle/controller (not useing it anytime soon or just turning off my pc) i wont be able to connect it again easily,i need to go to bluetooth settingforget controlleradd new devicespair the controller again. However, this does not mean that it’s particularly impossible to use a PS4 controller on your computer. The opposite is, in fact, true as it’s very easy to connect a PS4 controller on Windows 10. Causes why your computer is not recognizing your PS4 controller?

If you’re having difficulty connecting your PS4 controller on your Windows 10 computer, one of the following items below must be the reason for it.

PS4 controller is off or low on battery.

If your computer can’t seem to find or detect that you are trying to connect your PS4 controller wirelessly, make sure that the controller is not off. If it’s on but it’s not showing on your Windows Bluetooth settings, it may be due to low battery level.

Try charging the controller for at least 30 minutes before attempting to connect again. If that works, then the issue is likely due to low battery and there’s no need to worry about having a bad PC or controller.

PC has drivers issues.

Some gamers may also encounter problems connecting if they use a PS4 controller with their PC due to outdated or incompatible driver. Make sure that your Windows Operating System is fully updated as well as your USB ports.

Fix #1: Charge your wireless PS4 controller.

If you are connecting your PS4 controller via Bluetooth, the first thing that you must do is to ensure that it’s powered on. Some players may not realize that the controller has already died after hours of use.

If the controller is on but is low on battery, it may be too weak to maintain a solid Bluetooth connection. Try topping it up for several minutes and see if that will fix the issue.

Fix #2: Keep your PC drivers updated.

One of the reasons why many players encounter PS4 connection issues on their Windows 10 computer is their drivers. A driver is like a mini-operating system for a specific hardware component, like USB port. If the driver or drivers of your USB port is outdated, corrupted, or incompatible, it may cause connection problems when you use it.

Unlike other sensitive components such as graphics cards which require regular updates in order to work properly, the USB port on most computers can start working without needing any update for months or years.

However, it’s still recommended that you check manually if updating can help you fix your issue right now.

To do that, just open Device Manager, go to Human Interface Devices, right click on each of the items in the list, and select Update driver.

You also want to ensure that the Bluetooth items are updated as well so go back to the main screen of Device Manager and this time, click on Bluetooth section. Then, again, right click on each of the shown items in the list and try to update all of them.

Your computer will then search the web for the most recent updates for your devices. Once you get the prompt to install, simply follow the steps to begin updating.

Fix #3: Disconnect the PS4 controller from Windows Bluetooth settings.

Another simple solution that you can try in this case, is by disconnecting your PS4 controller from the Windows Bluetooth settings. To do that, just go to your computer’s Settings menu and open the Bluetooth & other devices. Then, find your PS4 controller in the list and disconnect it.

This suggestion obviously works if you are using a wireless setup. If you are connecting your PS4 controller via a USB cable, then just skip this step.

Fix #4: Use DS4Windows.

Some computer games may not support the PS4 controller on Windows 10 so you’ll need to fool the system so it thinks that you’re using an Xbox controller. To do that, you’ll need to use a third party software called DS4Windows.

The psmovepair utility is used for Bluetooth pairing – it will write theBluetooth host address of the computer it’s running on to PS Move controllersconnected via USB.

It optionally takes a single command-line parameter that is an alternativeBluetooth host address. For example, if you want to pair your PS Move controllerto your phone, but it does not have USB Host Mode, you can use this on your PC:

Depending on the operating system, you might need to run the utility asAdministrator (Windows), enter your password (OS X) or run using sudo(Linux) to let the utility modify the system Bluetooth settings and whitelistthe PS Move for connection.

Note

You only need to pair the controller to your PC once, from then onit will always try to connect to your PC. Only when you connect yourcontroller to a PS3 or pair with another PC will you have to re-dothe pairing process on your computer.

Here are some advanced tips if you can’t get pairing working out of the box:

Mac OS X¶

If psmovepair doesn’t work or you get a PIN prompt when you press the PSbutton on your controller, follow these steps:

Right after you run psmovepair write down the adress you find after“controller address:” in the form “aa:bb:cc:dd:ee:ff”
Disable Bluetooth (or the modifications that follow won’t work)
Wait for the Bluetooth process to quit (pgrepblued); repeat until nothingprints anymore (e.g. the process “blued” has quit) - this can take up to a minute
Authorize the controller’s MAC address:sudodefaultswrite/Library/Preferences/com.apple.BluetoothHIDDevices-array-add'<aa-bb-cc-dd-ee-ff>'(where <aa-bb-cc-dd-ee-ff> is the MAC address you wrote down at 8.2 but with hyphens for separators)
Enable Bluetooth again then press the PS button on the controller. The PIN request shouldnot pop up this time and the Move should now appear in the bluetooth devices as “Motion Controller”.

Starting with macOS Sierra, at most 2 Move controllers can be connected via Bluetooth at the same time when using the built-in Bluetooth adapter. This is due to some internal changes Apple made and did work on the same hardware prior to updating to Sierra. If you need more controllers at the same time, you can use an external Bluetooth adapter.

Ubuntu Linux¶

If you wish to access the PSMove controller via USB or Bluetooth withoutrequiring root-level permissions then it is necessary to copy thecontrib/99-psmove.rules file to /etc/udev/rules.d/:

Windows¶

You might have to try pairing multiple times for the Bluetooth connection towork on Windows. Also, be sure to use the Microsoft Bluetooth Stack and donot install any third party drivers (e.g. MotionInJoy) that would interferewith proper operation of PS Move API on Windows.

On a C.H.I.P (the board, without the battery, justconnected via a MicroUSB charger) we noticed that sometimes the PS Move seemsto draw too much power from USB, causing the C.H.I.P to reboot. In this case,you can pair your controller with the C.H.I.P in the Pocket C.H.I.P shell andthen remove the C.H.I.P and just power it up and connect via Bluetooth only.
